best for snow?

What's the best ATV for snow? That includes plowing as well as climbing. Now as far as I know, the biggest doesn't mean the best for snow. For example, between a grizzly and foreman, I find the foreman to do a better job. Various features, engineering, etc. all lend to a better machine. Post your experiences here.
I heard that the old bomb traxters are the best. Traxter doesn't sound much too different than tractor, you know.
If you want, you can also post which ones are the best for all around work, not play.
Thanx..

this is an interesting question to me as I do most of my riding on snow. I have owned many atv's over the years and have a pretty good idea what works good and what doesnt. We like to climb steep, snow covered hills and also see how much snow on the level they go through to see who's is the best. I wont go into any brands but the mechanics of the atv is what matters most. The most important thing to have is an auto trans. Up big hills, a manual seems to not spin the tires fast enough in 2nd and usually bogs down in 3rd. An auto will always keep the motor in its powerband and keep the tires moving, especially with a big motor. After that, weight makes a pretty big difference and so does a locking front diff, I cant count the times when i'd be chugging up a hill then stop dead in my tracks and notice its because 1 front wheel stopped turning. As for plowing, as long as its 4wd, cant go too far wrong. hope this helps.

hey, what's up? my name is mike and i agree with you. I have a Yamaha 350 Big Bear( utility) it is great in the snow. I just went riding today in Chatsworth NJ, at the New Jersey Off Road Vehicle Park. It's awesome, if you haven't gone, you should go if you have an ATV. (what kind of ATV do you have? or dirtbike)

well the arctic cat has the best ground clearance on the market the 650 has good power it is automatic has locking front diff. and well the grizzly should go through more then the foreman due to the ground clearance but if you say so. and tires are a big factor as to how well any atv goes through the snow. i know i can hold mine to the pin and go through alot of snow and my mom and dad both have foreman's well dad's has the same tires mine has and there is no challenge on my part. and when it comes to snow seems like heavier does better. you look at pickups why does a diesel 1 ton do so well in the snow????

For you, atvrider, I've been to the offroad park, and didn't like it too much. Riding on my own property with my quad seems more interesting. By the way, I live around the Allentown/Millstone Area.
About the One ton duallys, is diesel, by the way, do they do good in snow? How well?
Well anyway, I hope sweet650 gives us some specific ones to follow up his post.
Herte's a little twist, What's the best quad for snow when you have a 50 degree driveway slope at 400ft?

big tires on a yamaha blaster..thats the best u can do..u get on those light quads and they litterally drive on top of the snow..
but as for a big bore quad the more ground clearence the better so i'd go w/a brute force or something, just git some huge Holeshot ATR's on there and u'll be set
