Does anyone happen to know the HP and torque ratings on the following big bores? The websites do not give these specs. Also, where can you find these numbers. Thank you

Kawasaki Brute Force 750i

Bombardier Outlander 800

Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI

Suzuki King Quad 700

Yamaha Grizzly 660

Most dealers have spec books containing this information. You can also do searches on message boards and the internet for "certificate of origin" (or some version of that, along with "hp" and see what owner's certificates say) and sometimes see ratings.

Here's a list i've been compliling for a LONG time (some may be off a little, but most i have checked with more than one source):

Arctic Cat (suzuki engines, except the kawi-powered V2, and arctic cat's own H1):
500: (2003 and up have slightly detuned Vinson engine): 32hp @7000rpm, 34 lb-ft torque at 3500rpm (pre-03 had 28/30.5)
300: 14hp
650 V2: (close to prarie 650)

Bombardier (Rotax engines):
Outty 800: 62hp @ ? rpm, 52tq @ 5500rpm
Quest 650: 42hp
Outty 400: 28hp

Honda:
Rincon 650: 39hp
Foreman 450: 24hp
TRX 300: 16hp
400EX: 27hp
300EX: 21hp
TRX450R: 42hp (questionable)

Kawaski:
BF750: 51hp
Prarie 700: 46hp
Prarie 650: 42hp
V-Force 700: 51hp

Polaris:
SP700: 45hp
SP500: 30hp
SP500 HO: 38hp (same as scrambler 500)
SP800: 55hp/50tq

Suzuki:
KQ700: 49hp
KQ300: 14hp
LT500: 53hp
Eiger 400: 25hp
Vinson 500: 34hp

Yamaha:
Grizz 660: 42hp/35tq
Warrior/Wolverine 350: 18hp

These are brake hp ratings (BHP) from the factory... there will some variances from quad to quad (usually within 1-2 hp/tq of the above ratings). Hope this helps someone out there....

I am sure 99mudking had the best of intensions when he posted the hp numbers. I wonder how long it will be before someones pie hole flies open and they start typing in disbelief? How many?

Whether someone believes it or not is their personal problem. Those ratings are as measured by the manufacturers. Anyone willing to put in the effort can find these ratings. There willl be slight differences, but that's normal.

It's also good to have friends in the right places.

Yes, for the most part, your number are pretty close. My data from my local kawie and polaris dealers are the following.

Kawie 750bf = 55hp
SP800 = 54hp
Bomb800 = 62hp

These are the numbers that they showed me from the mfg., not adjusted numbers.

You bring up a good point. I'm not sure if the manufacturers use gross numbers or adjusted to, say, SAE standards or some standard they have all their own. There's a definite difference in power when changing elevation, particularly for carbs.

Hopefully we can get some more owners on the boards to check their certificates of origin and post their numbers here. Then maybe we can get some better estimates, and a better feel as to how these quads might have been rated when being sent to different locations. Surely one ATV sent to denver, colorado can't have the same output as one sent to florida.

This could get interesting.
