Handguards or heated grips for cold weather riding?
#1
Do the brush handguards do anything to keep your hands warm in the winter? I thought maybe by keeping some of the wind off they might help keep my hands warmer, or am I better off going with heated grips?

I just put the Moose Winter pack on my Vinson (Heated grips and thumbwarmer with a dual zone controller with five different temp settings and l.e.d. indicators) and don't know how I plowed snow and rode in the winter without it. Easy to install and I like the grips, although I think they will be a bugger to remove if I ever need to.

I do some cold/snow riding, prob not as much of some folks here. I am also sure it does not get as cold for as long here as it does farther north. No plowing/winter work as of yet. I use a set of these:

They work great for keeping the wind off and the heat from your hands in. Last year I tried diffrent legs of the same ride with and without the mitts to see if they made a diffrence. Let's just say I did not ride long without them. I have a second set I got from of all places Wal-Mart for around $12 that are lined.
If anything combined with electric warmers they will help keep in the heat and wind off the leading edge of your fingers.

www.denniskirk.com has the moose winter pak for around $80.00. I know cabelas also sells the same thing under a different brand name, but I am sure it is the same manufacturer and I think they want $99.00. My local Yamaha dealer sells the kit for $74.99.

It is under dennis kirks off road, then under handle bar pads grips and glue and then under Moose products. They are $99.95 from them so my bet is your dealer will be cheaper.
