Newbie help on ATV tires...
#1
I am purchasing a Kodiak 450 this weekend. My plans are to upgrade the tires and wheels right off of the bat. I will be riding mostly trails that consist of Georgia clay. I will hit some mud but mainly trail ways. I have decided on ITP C series typ 7 wheels. I want 25 inch tires so that I dont effect the quads power much. The two tires I have been considering are the Maxxis bighorns and the ITP mudlite xtrs. Will one be better for the conditions I am riding in and will one last longer than the other? Thanks for the help as I am confused...

I put the 26" Bighorns on mine before last riding season and rode all summer on them without any problems. They've worked great for the riding I do which includes a lot of creek crossings, occasional mud holes and a lot of rocky/hard pack trails. No noticeable wear either. As far as comparing them to the other brand I have no idea since I've never tried them. I'm a satisfied customer.

The Bighorns are a great all around tire and the Mudlites are better for muddy conditions. The Bighorns will probably have a smoother ride. I also have the Type 7 wheels on my Outty 400, they look awsome.
Check out TRAXMS.COM they have great prices on Type 7 wheels

Another vote for the Bighorns. I have 26"s on my BF650. Great all around tire. There are better mud tires out there, but in terms of durability and ruggedness, definitely worth looking at. I'm not saying they're a bad mud tire, not as great a self-cleaner as some of the more open spaced designs.
