Default Wheels not tires

Is there an advantage to buying new rims other than the fact that they look better than the stock ones. Are they lighter, more sturdy etc. etc. I would buy new rims if someone can convince me otherwise that the only thing they are good for is looking better, because i really could care less about the looks of my rims. Thanks in advance for enlightening me.

According to the denniskirk catalog, some quads will be wider with the new wheels (no matter what aftermarket wheel you chose) check into it. I like my quad 4" wider, so it helped in my case. Not hard to look at either....

most rims will have a 2 inch off seat so your quad will be wider with aftermarket rims. They are also stronger and less dent resistent and with optional bead locks on some rims. They ussuall as less likely to leak around the rims and some brands are lighter also like ITP Type 7s.

The only reason I got new wheels is because one of our local riding places doesn't allow deep tread tires so it makes it easy to swap out depending where I'm riding. Though one advantage the manufacturer claims is since the rear wheels are 8" wide instead of the more common 7" it allows more tread to be in contact with the ground.

Aluminum factory wheels with a rolled lip are hard to beat in strength vs weight. Stock steel wheels leave alot to be desired because of the lack of a rolled lip.

my stock grizzly wheels are about 3 pounds lighter each than any after market wheel so if power is a issue you might want to consider the weight because rotating weight will make quite a difference.
