My AC650V2 was 7300, and well worth it. So i guess i paid for what i got, like my buddy who paid 5400 for his sp700 and said "I got a way better deal than you" Guess what, he hates polaris now, and is taking it back to trade for BF or AC. It never runs, and the 4x4 doesnt work right. I guess he got what he paid for!! Nothing against Polaris, he just should have upgraded to an 800EFI or something. Mabey he got a lemon. But its not always bad to spend a little more money, then you will have been the one who "got the better deal!"

Mdog, The issue of engaging 4x4 on the fly came up on the Bomb list. A Bomb wrench said not to do it because of the way the engagement happens. There is a small pin that has to engage IOT complete the 4x4 operation. The pin is easily broken with the resultant loss of 4x4. He said the pin was a $1.25 part, but it was $150 to get to it. His advice was to do as the manual suggests and stop prior to engagement.
This is an issue for me since I recently sold my 500 and bought a 800 Outty Max. I like the idea of being able to engage on the fly like I can with my AC 650. The fact that you've been able to shift on the fly for three years w/out a problem makes me wonder...is it really an issue, or are you living close to the chest? I mean, if Bomb really didn't want you to do it, installing an interlock so that 4x4 could not be engaged unless there was no input from the speed sensor would be an easy thing to do. On the other hand...do I feel lucky.

I watched a paid programming show last night on the Outty 800 and 400
If they do have to stop to shift to 4x4 then they totally misled people! I should say it's close to false advertising!
I would be pissed if I had bought one. They were touting the marvels of Visco lock like OMG it's best ever! They never said shift on the fly though, they just said automatic 4x4 transfering power to the wheel that isn't spinning blah blah blah!!
I watched a test in where they put 3 of the wheels on rollers and the 4th wheel was bumped up against a 6 inch barrier. They were touting how the outty's would transferr power from the spinning wheels to the one on the barrier and eventually climb over. It took a long time! The 3 wheels on rollers spun quite ahwile before the 4th wheel finally engaged, enough to spin a hole in the dirt, enough to hook and flip you off the obstical, enough to really mess things up.
No thanks!! I wanna lock that sucker up when I want it locked!!
At least on the AC you can start it engaging before the obstical and by the time you hit it the damm thing will be pulling already so you don't loose momentium

As long as that AC system went to full lock I would be sold! I love the lever idea for diff lock, and if you were able to pull the lever until it went into full lock up then had some way of keeping it there so you didn't have to have your fingers on it then that would be the best system bar none.
So does the AC go to full lock up? or is it always partial lock? I know the harder you pull the lever the more lock you get but is there a way of setting the lever to a position then keeping it there without having to keep pulling it? They need some sort of "cruise control" thingie for their lock up lever

Im confused?! On the 2006 V2 anyway, you flip the lever, and your locked in. You flip it back and your unlocked. I dont know what you mean by having to hold the lever, or push harder. The diff lock works the way you said you would like it to! You flip it, and your locked in

Oh well that sucks, I thought it had clutch plates in the front diff. I thought you could control how much pressure you put on the clutch plates. I never used the AC 650's front diff lock before but it looked like a mini brake lever you could pull.
