Default Gorilla winch owners

I just bought a Gorilla 2500 winch from E-bay. It is being shipped to me right now. I'm going to install it on my Rancher 4x4.

Is there any tricks with intalling one of these, is it fairly easy??

What else can you tell me about the Gorilla winches?

Thanks, Kev

I bought the 2500 lb Gorilla for my Suzuki Eiger, it works great, the only problem is the mounting plate, you have to do some modifacations for it to bolt up to the frame, for my Eiger the mount plate wasn't wide enough, but I own a arc and a mig welder and I just welded a piece of 1" angle iron to the side and drilled some holes and bolted it up. If you don't wanta do that you can purchace just the mounting plate for ur quad and the Gorilla will bolt up to that, another problem is the handlebar mounted switch, its a cheap grade switch, looks cheap, feels cheap, but no complaints, it works. I have a friend that owns the 2500 Warn and my Gorilla looks and sounds and works exactly the same as his. It was easy to hook up and to me it was fun to do. The way I figure the Gorilla costs 4 times less than the Warn, if it breaks or i crack it in half, its less money I lost. I never used it to pull my quad outta the mud yet, Im working hard to get my quad stuck but it can't. I pulled my full size pickup dragging it up the road with the wheels locked up with the Gorilla Winch and it pulled it, I had the cable rapped around a telephone pole. It will do the job the next time the neighbor parks his truck in front of my garage then when I knock on his door and ask him nicely to please move his truck and he calls me a dirty name and slamms the door, it will do the job.

Thanks MotoF150,

I feel better for buying it now that I hear you are happy with yours. I can't wait to get it, just to pull some things, maybe I'll have to PI$$ off my neighbor!

I too have a welder, so I'm not too concerned with mounting, I'll get it done.

PS- I also love my F-150- I have a 2000 F-150 4x4 7700. super cab. LOVE IT.

Thanks again, Kev

It should be a good winch. I bought a Venom 2500XT from Ebay, and it has outlasted my buddies Warn winch!! You just pay for a name, they are all very similar in components. Good Luck!

I don't know this for sure, but im betting its the same manufacturing plant somewhere in China that makes all of the winches, my Gorilla looks and acts exactly the same as a Warn, the only difference is the different postion of the cable hook up posts on the motor and the handlebar switch, the contactor is EXACTLY the same.

I have a 2000 F150 7700 also, and love it too ...... best truck I've ever owned by far .... and even with the 5.4L I can squeeze 20mpg out of it, as long as I baby it and keep my tonneau cover on...... I plan on keeping mine until it dies .........
