Default Suggest a Utility...

My friend is looking to buy a 4x4 Utility. He is a beginner rider so I think an automatic Ute would be good for him. What do you guys recommend? He is looking to spend between 5-6K. Oh, and before someone asks...he will be riding mostly dirt trails, some mud(not much), rocky trails, etc...No farming or work with this one.

Thanks,
TC Man

i think the Yamaha Kodiak 450 and Vinson 500 are in the $6K range....I wouldn't recommend a Kymco over these.

I think you can get a AC for that also, and they are at the top of the list for rocks/mud/rough terrain

KYMCO?? hahaha, their 500 will have 4x4 diff lock and still be chain driven hahahaha... nah i just dont have any respect for that market yet. I have a neighbor that bought a Mongoose 90 for his kid, and that thing can be summerized in one word, PROMLEMS.. The thing was so cheap, they've spent more money fixing it than they paid for the whole thing. BUT for TCMan i would recommend an AC500, Vinson500, Sportsman 450, Grizzly/Kodiak 450, Kawasaki Brute Force 650, Honda Foreman 500 S/ES ... there are many choices. Tell you're friend to go out and test drive some..

I recommend Kymco and of like ilk for kids. I don't consider them a serious quad or even a good starter quad for adults. I would go with a Yamaha Big Bear/Kodiak...soemthing of this nature. They are excellent machines and you should be able to accomplish a 4x4 in your price range.

The Suzuki Eiger is a good one, it comes in manual and auto. Great all around quad. You and get them for around 5k.

That is exactly what I was going to suggest.
