hey guys hope ride time is with ya! question? I hope someone has had this problem. A friend of mine has a 05 grizzly, and his throttle sticks often. Two other things that are happening are at high rpm in low range his reverse light comes on and blinks and the motor starts to cough. The other thing is on a ride of 3or4 hours his quad will back fire 1or2 times a ride. The throttle cable has been lubed and has no kinks or bad bends in it. Do not really know where to start to look for a cure , any advise would be most greatful. One more thing is in high range all rpm range is not affected by revese light or cough. idle seems to be in parimmiters only by sound have not put it on a meter yet. What do you all think and as alwaysyou all rule and thanks!!!!!

He must have the front diff lock on, in low to have the rev limiter come into play. Try holding in the override button , and see if the cough goes away.
If the diff lock isnt on, check the electrical connections at the front diff, undo them, clean and dry them out, and use dielectric grease when they get put back together.
When the motor backfires....is it from a sudden let off of the throttle?

Thanks for the info honda buster, I will tell my buddy about this and we will try to see if holding in override button will cancell out cough. What do you think about throttle sticking? If the quad is in garadge for a day or two and he starts it up and revs it up acouple of times it will stick, if he lets it warm up acouple of minutes it will not stick but it is only a matter of time, before it will stick. O f,y,i, diff loc was not on and we will look at plug ins thanks again. p,s how is the riding out thier, here it is mostly mud and rock.

Well, if the throttle is sticking, and the cable itself is lubed and there's no kinks in it anywhere, then you're gonna have to look to the carb. As painful as it sounds, your next step will probably be to break down the carb and clean it out and see if that fixes your problem...

Hebs, Thanks for the reply,It may sound stupid but i was hoping all the problems were somehow related to a fix other than carb repair. I also would be interested in what kind of riding you do as well? Keep it on all 4s or at least 2 ride on !!!!!!

Most of my riding consists of moving from 1 mud hole to another... (view my pics) I enjoy creating new trails, and navigating thru the tricky ones... you know, the kind that doesn't allow for all 4 tires to be on the ground half the time... basically anything that's a challenge...
