Your source?
Did you not state that Polaris and A/C were neck in neck in snowmobile market share and that Yamaha had the watercraft marketshare?
Why did you state earlier that BRP has never been #1 in marketshare in either watercraft or snowmobiles? Where did you get THAT info. from? At one time Sea Doo had a 60% marketshare in watercraft, currently it's 45% with an overall slow down in personal watercraft industry wide, even Polaris stopped manufacturing PWC's.
National or global, doesn't matter, we are in a world economy now, Yamaha, Honda etc. are all sold worldwide.>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>
Again, like I said, my info is from US sales and not on a worldwide report. Up until recently BRP owned nearly all of the europe sells. What are your world market share reports from? I tell ya what. Just forget all the stuff I got and we'll go with the world market. I will recieve third quarter numbers in a week or so. They will be national. They will give a full run down of total sales. (In all catagories related to powersports) I'll see what I can do on the world reports and you do the same. I will stand down my quotes for now. I've done 3 different searches and paid for 1 of them and they all give different numbers. Most of my numbers come from stock quotes and dow reports. If you go to somewhere like Powersports business or marketshare publishing they give different numbers all together. I'll put the attachment on the response when I get them. 2 reports only show BRP with with a 1-1.5% atv marketshare with 2 quarters in 06 covered. They don't all add up even close. BRP should be in the 3-5% atv market. I would think 10-15% worldwide. Until then, we'll just stick to plain old debate

True market share numbers for BRP will be hard to come by as they do not release this info. as a now privately held company. Doesn't matter, through last year they were 45% of PWC and 35% of snowmobile, national or worldwide is regardless. ATV market share is probably about right, Can Am really only offers the Outlanders, DS and Rally models compared to say Honda or Polaris who seem to have over a dozen different options.
I personally don't care who has what in market share my original point is that BRP got to those levels in the snow/water craft business because they were known for building quality, high perfomance machines with many repeat customers. I see no reason to believe their ATV's won't measure up to their snowmobiles and PWC's.
Did you know that when Polaris went up for sale back in the 80's Bombardier looked into buying them but after reviewing anti trust laws and monopolistic conerns by gov. regulators they backed off. A/C went bankrupt in the early 80's, reorganized under chapter 13 and was kept afloat mostly through merchandise sales similar to Harley Davidson back then. A/C was probably only kept afloat because of a major investment by Suzuki and if not for ATV sales they probably wouldn't even exist right now. I always thought A/C had the coolest looking sleds.

I can agree that AC stays afloat by the merge. But on the stock market rp will have total machines sold per quarter. If it's truth, then it will tell. you go by company word on all this. Kawi got in trouble years back for padding numbers to create an increase in growth by the staock market. It was nearly a disaster for them. It was corrected but not until they were confronted and then admitted to the error in totals and said it was mistaken by projected totals. Long story but you know how it goes.

BRP is privately held now, they are not traded on any stock exchange. Any marketshare info. you find will be based mostly on analysts opinions. They don't even have to disclose total units sold.....Total sales growth, market share etc. are all Wall Street terms analysts use to guage whether to buy, hold or sell a stock as a result all this info. is disclosed in quarterly and annual company reports. BRP is not required to disclose this info. they may choose to, but I doubt they do......one of the advantages of being privately held is you can keep your competition guessing a little bit. BRP as a company lost $45 mill last year.
