Default Arctic Cat wins quad cross

I think Its funny how atv-mag and other atv mags always dog Artic Cat atvs . I think the mags get out of tune when they do there shoot outs and rate the atvs on how well they do at the drag races. In the real world like theQuadterrain track that Daryl Rath and His Artic cat 650 dominated for the 2006 season they had big bolders and logs, mud holes as part of the track. Its kind of funny that the AC 650 that ATV-MAG rated last in its shootout would beat 800 can-ams and 750 kaw, at the race track.I"m not sure but I think Polaris diden"t have a machine in the top 10 , I think the reason the Artic Cat dusted everyone is there 12 inches ground clearance. Daryl Rath was able to attack the bolder sections and logs , I guss the power on the Arctic cat in the real world is better than dirt wheels and Atv-mag give them credit for.Can Am has spent alot of money with there race teams,Daryl Rath picked his Arctic Cat up 4 days before the season before his Artic Cat man handled the Can Ams and Kaw-and the , well I was going to say polaris but there were none In the top 10.

Im an AC guy, but i dont want to see a brand war over this, so i will point out that yes AC did take the championship, but Can-Am won the Manufacturer award, and visited the podium more than anyone else. AC and Can-Am are top of the line for off road rough terrain. I agree that the mags come down hard on AC, and sometimes even point blank lie, saying they are slow, and to heavy, and whatever else. Like said, they proved themselves in real life challenges. I dont know what happened to Polaris in the challenge.

Lack reliability.. hahaha.. Its ridiculous how bias some people are. My Polaris has been as reliable as any quad could ever be. And one, stupid test dosent prove anything. Who cares what the magazines say. We all know those arent true. And in my real world expierences i wouldn't trade my Polaris for anything. ANYTHING. Merry Christmas

I had four Polaris's 4x4 from 1990 to 2003 and they were always in need of repair in fact it was so bad that I had to have two of them one to fix and one to ride. They weren't to bad until the warranty ran out them they would start falling a part .That's why they don't do well in quad cross is because of their lack of reliability.

That seems to be your own fault. Nothing to do with Polaris in general. I personally wouldn't buy a Polaris unless it was an '04 or up. I know the changes took place in '05 but as far as i can tell, '04 was the fastest year for each machine, 400, 500, and 700. But anyway, you saying you had 1 to fix and 1 to ride is the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

Oddly enough, I have a 2000 Trailboss I sold to a local couple and it still runs today and has never had a single problem.

The reason I stayed with them so long was because at one time they had some performance not like know.Since kawi came out with the Vee Twin Polaris performance has dropped off. A person doesn't mined working on a ATV if its fast and works well but if it's slow and needs repair it's time to leave.

Merry Christmas everybody. Hope you all have a wonderful day that you can look back on fondly. Spend it with your families and be happy

Having said that, I'm sure Polaris has let it's share of lemons out of the gate. Matter of fact, I rode one to death. 2 stroker at that. Don't remember the model. But it had some issues. And feel safe calling it a lemon. It was a used machine. I don't know how well it had been maintained. Actually, it was bought at a auction where they sell wrecked cars and I think it had been abused to hell.

But, I'm going to have to call BS on your story Bruce. Don't mean to offend...just observing the facts. The reason I am calling BS is:

1. You rode Polaris for 13 years. If they gave you as much grief as you claim, you wouldn't have. Great performance or not, nobody is going to put up with that kind of frustration for that long.

2. The factory warranty is only six months. Based on your description, the machines broke down right after the factory warranty expired. But you still rode them for over a decade. And purchased four Polaris quads.

The facts speak for themself and no further elaboration is necessary.

I am starting to think AC's are a pretty good machine. The media certainly is biased to them (against). I recall watching a ATV show on the Outdoor channel a while back where they gave it a real bad review. Mainly because of how they felt it had a high center of gravity and was inclined to tip. The reason I recall this is I was in the market for a quad at the time. But there was a video posted not too long ago here where they had a little honda, a AC and a Can-Am and I was really impressed with how the AC did. I was even more impressed with that crazy honda two wheel drive. Did you see that video V2?
