Our City is in the process of building a large baseball / softball complex. We are going to use mounted horse patrols, and have recently came up with the idea for an ATV. I believe they have already purchased a Polaris - 350. I haven't been told, but have the feeling that I will be chosen to patrol with the ATV. (BIG difference from a TRX 250R!!) Just trying to find out if any other departments have had any expierence.

I just saw one yesterday on CNN, filmed in Philly. They only showed it for a second. It was green and I believe it was a member of the swat team. And went right down into the subway station.
Needless to say I was quite taken aback upon seeing it.

Check with Glynn Co. GA. When I was in FLETC this last time I was talking with two officers from the Co. that was riding 300 Honda 4x4's on the beach. They are running two units side by side and 1 was pulling a SkiDoo for water rescue.

Cape Breton Regional Municipality (Nova Scotia, Canada). Our area is policed by a regional police force. They cover the city, and a large surrounding rural area. They have several ATV's and are starting to make their presence on the trails. Right now we have a large problem with ATV theft. A lot of ATVing population here has the convenience of accessing the trails from their back yard. This makes it very easy for vandals, as they just follow the tracks to your home, hotwire the bike, and they are off into the woods, never to be seen again. I don't know if the police on ATV's will have much of an effect on this, but we certainly hope.

In Spring Texas the city and county law enforcement both use atvs, some lifted, snorked, and vamped. They ride the trails in the Spring Creek trail system and issue tickets for PI any any thing else 10-20 miles off in the woods. And they CAN catch you.
