If you get stuck in 2wd, putting it into 4x4 will get you right out, unless you sat there spinning the tires burying yourself first. I don't have experience with the Polaris AWD system, but in the automotive world off-road enthusiasts will tell you this about electronic traction control in the dirt: By the time the system detects wheel slippage and starts working, you're already stuck. I would definitely want the ability to manually engage/disengage 4x4-lock. But, to each his own. It's all personal preference.

Thanks for the additional input, Brad.
There is a way to run 2WD only, but when the switch is flipped to AWD, you're right, there's a lag before it kicks in. 4/10 of a second I was told.

Wellllllllll, the Polaris won.

EPS aside, it just seemed like I was getting so much more quad and for less money. When I went back tonight I looked at them again, asked questions and finally decided that I liked sitting on the Polaris more than I did the Grizzly. I still think when I stand beside them I like the looks of the Grizzly more, but when I'm on them it's a different story. And I don't plan on watching anybody ride my wheeler (lol).

It took them 20 minutes to even find the Polaris in the system for the financing. The official name he came back with is the black camo LE (limited edition), not stealth. The dealer said they were released late July (last year) and the main city near me (Erie, PA) only got two. For whatever that's worth. I kinda like stealth 800 myself...

Can't wait til tomorrow!

Congratulations! That is what matters the most, what seems the best for you based upon your own fit, feel and priorities as to what you are looking for in a machine. The best we can do is give you our input based upon our own experiences but the rest is up to you...

You'll be happy with it no doubt. You would have been happy with either.

I don't much care for the Polaris styling either but they handle and perform as well as anything out there and they ride better than anything else I've ever ridden. They're a pretty good package for a lot of people's purposes which includes yours apparently.
