Default NEED YOUR HELP!

Hey guys, my dad recently purchased a Yamaha Rhino 660 4x4 ATV and he's currently trying to get it insured by our insurance company. We ran into a problem and have called many Yamaha dealers trying to find out the horsepower of the Rhino because the insurance company needs to know that and no one has been able to give us an answer. If anyone could please answer this or let me know where else I should try it would be greatly appreciated!!!

The same engine in the Griz is 40.9 HP. It may be detuned a bit for the Rhino but that should be close enough for your insurance company.

Dyno testing on numerous stock Rhino 660s has shown that stock they make about 22 to 24 HP at the rear wheels. Jaybeecon is giving HP numbers at the crankshaft for the Grizzly 660 I believe. I've heard numbers like 35 HP at the crank for a Rhino 660. But I would give the insurance company the lowest number you can, and 23 HP is all the stock Rhino 660 makes at the rear wheels.

If you need actual documentation look up your model on the California Air resources Board (CARB) site. They have the actual CARB certification which gives power numbers. Which as jaybeecon55 said is 40.90HP (CARB lists it in kW so you have to do the conversion). They're in PDF format and you could just print it off if you need documentation.
