I am thinking about ice racing my '08 grizzley 700 this winter, in the utility quad class.
Stock tires will not do the job. I tried putting the rear rims up front but the offset is too deep. I thought about using maxxis tires or carlisle, but the good patterns are not for my 12" rims.
Need help with tire/rim combos.
Has anybody been here before ?

Are studs allowed for the races? I've even heard of people using Ramsets over 3" long on dirtbikes. I guess they would work on ATVs too. Imagine taking a nail gun to the inside of your tires and that's what it is. I guess they need an innertube after that but they get a lot of grip.

No, studs are not allowed for "utility" class. These are the big "tanks" , but the little "quads" run both studded and bare tire classes. Check it out on Harrys Roamers web site.
On an '08 grizzley 700, i need 2" front spacers to run a REAR RIM since it is a 5-2 offset (7" rim width), so the rim clears the upper "a" arm.
But they want $200.00 for a rear stock rim, so i'm looking at delta rims(12x7) with a 5-2 offset for much less.
Also j.c.whitney has the best price on carlisle " all trail" tires that can be "siped".
