Default Snow tracks on a 3wd would it still be as good?

After watching this Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1egNlkoHK8

My friend wants a set of tracks this winter, but he owns a 500 Honda Foreman with just a limited slip front end.

Would he have to add lockers for the really deep snow or slushy lakes?

The ATVs in the video look to be a AWD Polaris or AC's and other makes with standard diff lock options.

The tracks are $3000 but he was looking at a used sled in that price range anyways.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't one of the bikes a Honda Rincon, which has a limited slip front end.

All Honda 4x4 are limited slip. They have no true AWD option as of yet.

Just thinking it must be a disadvantage to have one of the two front large heavy tracks just being pushed as dead weight, rather than all 4 pulling at the same time.

I realize that but you said the atv's in the video are either AWD or have a differential lock standard. I just didn't know if you knew there was a Honda in that video.

About the 3wd, I wouldn't think he would need to add a differential lock. On my Rubicon, as long as all four wheels are on the ground, all four are spinning.

I though one was a Honda but they did not use that ATV for the crazy stuff or have a aftermacket locker added to it like many Hondas do..
