Default What class am I in?

I Have a 2009 Grizzly 550 now and am wondering what class you guys feel it's in? It is the same size machine as my old 700 grizzly, but with the smaller bore. Can it be in a 500 class just because of the engine size? I just don't feel it can be called mid-size. Give me your opinions. Thanks, Dog

I would say sometimes people call the 500cc "mid sized" but the "size" part is only referring to the engine. Obviously the physical size is the same as the 700.

Personally I would just call it a full size ATV with a 500cc engine. I'm not sure what "class" designation people want to make for it.

IMO the Classes break down like this:

sport - which is any full sized sport machine, any 400, 450 or 700 etc.....
utility - any full sized 4x4 or 2x4 with racks and auto trans, 350cc - 800cc
mid-sized sport - 250 class machines like z250, 250x, Raptor 250
mid-sized Ute - Any smaller Ute like the Bayou 250, or
kids/child - anything under 200cc

There are probably exceptions to every class here and there but that is how it breaks down IMO.....

I think it's a 500-class full-size ATV.

Thanks guys, not that it matters much but when I went to put insurance on it they asked me if it was a full size or mid size atv. I said that I believe it is in the mid size class and it saved me about $55 a year. It seem to me that the insurance company should know this and not rely on the customer to ansewer it for them. Why wouldn't they ask how many cc's it is and go from there. I have never heard of the class size in relation to insurance. Looky there I learned something today

I had 2 or 3 different ins. cos. and they never asked me what class or size other than engine size. But they ask the model and VIN too, so there's no way I could say it was something else to try to save some money.
