Help - What to buy???
#1
I've narrowed my choices down to three. I'll be using for light farm work, occasional hunting, and some trail riding for fun. I'm middle aged, so I won't be riding it too hard. Here's my choices:
2009 Kawasaki Prairie 360 - $5700
2008 Suzuki Quad AS400 - $5200
2009 Polaris 400 HO - $5600
All prices include a winch and ramps for the truck.
Any opinions??

i have a suzuki 2006 400 eiger, i really like this quad alot, i have never rode the polaris 400, i have rode a praire 360, id take take the suzuki anyday of the week over the praire. the only 400 class utility i like over the kingquad 400 is the honda rancher 420.

the grizzly 450 is a good machine, just runs you 1000 to 1500 dollars more for one, i have a eiger 400 and a rancher 420 , id say for the money the 420 honda rancher is your best value hands down in a 400 class utility.

Yeah, a buddy of mine had a Eiger, which I guess is now a 400 King Quad with different body work. It's physically larger than the 420 Honda, and a bit smoother ride, but the 420 Honda is way snappier, liquid cooled EFI.
For the Griz, you get Dif locker, low range, IRS, which isn't too common in that displacement class...
Really, I think every machine mentioned so far would probably make a person happy. It's just a matter of finding the one that has the features and riding experience that match a person's use, and personal preference.

I have the 400HO and have to tell you it is a great ride! It is a mid-size bike but with it's 455cc engine is more then capable of anything that I have asked it to do. I have used it to pull trailers, haul firewood and pull fairly sizable logs out of the woods!
Now, with that said, although all of the above mentioned machines would be a great purchase, you may actually be a bit happier with a full-size 500 HO which right now can be picked up for about the same green as your original three choices and for any serious farm use would be a much better choice!

Out of those you mentioned I'd go with the Polaris.
I'd sure look into the Yamaha Grizzly though. It's a great machine in the class.
In the end you have to get your butt on the machine and ride it on the terrain you intend to ride on. Something might get rave reviews and spec out great on paper but it may not be right for your riding style, your riding area or it may simply not fit you.
Nothing beats putting your butt on the seat and riding it on the terrain you intend to ride.
