Default Tires for ranch work?

Hi,

I just bought a used Kawasaki Prairie 700 to use on our ranch and the tires that came with it wore out in 5 minutes, so I'm looking at buying 4 new tires.

The atv is used mainly on hard-packed dirt roads, gravel and pastures with steep hills (and a little bit on pavement when there is no way around it). To complicte matters, I would also like to drag my arena with the atv and the dirt in the arena is about 3 inches deep (though I could give up this use if there isn't a tire that would work for this and also last on the roads).

So, any suggestions on what tires I should get, or what to look for in a tire? And where to get them online.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'm an atv newbie so please be gentle and use atv newbie words :-)

I think that the Maxxis Bighorns would suit your needs. Not an overall aggressive tread pattern, good for a variety of terrains.

Mud tires have deeper lugs that should take a long time to wear out but they're fairly expensive and generally ride a little rougher. Every tire is a compromise.

Post Re:

The BFG AT comes to mind. Its 3 ply sidwall, has a crazy load capacity and it nice and quiet on the road. Im on the OEM ATs right now, usually run those down a bit then get something new.

I have land with dirt, caliche, crushed concrete, gravel, rock, wood, barbed wire, etc. 3 ply sidewalls in most AT/Mud tire work very well. Nitto, Toyo, General, BFG.

you can check out GPS Offroad Products, they have a tire that's similar to the Maxxis Bighorn, the brand is a Sun-F 12 ply Run Flat option, strong load capacity, strong sidewall, the tire was tested and approved by the U.S. Military, GPS Offroad Products also has more UTV tires to choose from.
