I was wondering if anyone hear races there untility? I currently ride a new z400 and would like to race, but think I need to start somewhere a little less face paced. I was considering try racing the uts?

I am getting my ute ready to race next year in the OK cross country series. I am modding it enough that I can still use it for deer season.

Well endmumma,
I dont think racing a ute would be easier than racing a sport quad, maybe slower but thats about it...you got to think about other factors about a ute, ,,as in weight, power, size ,handling...
I might be wrong but it makes sense to me..

Yeh, I know about those factors, but I think I would be better a racing the uts. I know they have there own class in the GNCC series, but I don't hear that much about them though.

I race our 99 Recon around our enduro track all the time.

In the woods its a fun little machine.

Its when you get out in the open when the other quads rip right past you.

I currently race in the w.ky flattrack series (www.flattrackmac.com) which consist of ovals and tt courses at each event. i ride a modified polaris xplorer 400 4x4 which all i have to do is change the rims/tires and then i can trail ride. I run Utility class and when there are not many utilities there they will put me with some of the other classes. I can keep up and do well against other fully race quads like:440ex's, 426ex's, and banchees. On the 3/8 mile ovals i can hit the low to mid 80's mph(30 tooth rear sprocket). my front chain is disconnected right know until i can figure out what sprockets i need so i can use the 30 tooth rear sprocket all the time. This winter i plan on running some hare scrambles but i plan on going to a 23" tire all around versus my current 25" trail tires. I'm 5'8" 150lbs and don't have many problems keeping up with sport quads on the trail but my quad is modified and is pushing over 55 hp. good luck

how hard do the utility guys push it. does the weight factor equal mucho breakdowns or do they get shock/chassis mods asap. can the go back to work after a few races or is it one or the other?
