The K@N filter alone will not increase the overall HP alot. Maybe a few % more but thats about it. You may need to rejet If you feel the machine is not running as good as it was before you installed the k@n filter. Check your spark plug also. If it is a whitish color then you are running too lean, too dark and you are too rich: The plug should be light brown.

Read what the other guy said about the plug. This is the only way to tell if your bike is lean or rich. I didn't find a need to re jet after putting a K&N on my forman 450. Just check the plug.

action450s-did the K&n filter do anything for your 450? My brother has one, and was just wondering.

I have a 2003 Foreman 450, I went with a supertrap IDS-X exhaust, Twin Air filter, and a second air snorkel, I went from a stock #130 to a #140 main jet and raised the needle (lowered the clip) all the way, 3 1/2 turns out on the mixture screw and it seems alot more peppy now. It actually lifts the front wheels shifting 3rd (just a little), I used to climb this sand hil in 2nd, it would never pull 3rd gear it would always loose power and die, know it goes rite up the hill in 3rd no problem.

I think I need to go to a #143 main as it looks a little lean (grey plug) but the air is still cold, when it warms up it will probably be OK

I doubt that the filter made any real difference on its own, after reading 03 Formans post, I have some more work to do!!!

Actually I already have the second soorkle waiting to go on, I need a new muffler and sepertrap IDS II is what I had in mind, and of course all of this is going to create a need to rejet!!! Cant wait.

I was told by the head Honda mechanic and Naults Honda in NH, that most quads are jetted lean from the factory so they pass Califonia emitions, so If I put a K&N on and a second snorkel, I would think about a #135 main and raising the needle 1 clip.

i just got an 03 foreman 450 and its really doggy compared to my friends 00 450, could this just be because i only have 6 hrs on my machine or did they change something between the years? will a k&n power kit and a pipe bring me up to speed?
