Comming up on my first oil change on my 450 and i was wondering what would be the best oil to use....Do I have to use yamaha lube???? Is there another oil as good but cheeper?

 

Any one?????

 

I use Chevron Delo 400 in my 450 and my wife's 400 Kodiak' $6.00 a gal. Oil Filters Fram PH6017a AC 2057 Purolator ML16817.

It seems like anything with the letters "atv" on it is priced higher. If you have your manual it probably tells you to use the Yamaha lube or a equivalent. At least that is similar to what my Honda manual says but with a Honda GN4 oil. I use Valvoline 10w-40 rated (I think SF and/or SG) There are other main stream motor oil companies that offer atv oil. Just make sure that it is rated the same as the Yamaha lube. I buy my atv oil at a local auto parts store.

I have searched high and low for the Fram oil filter that you mentioned. Where do you buys yours?

 

Dez Dude I get Fram filters at Discount Auto Parts In Florida, check around if you can't find them I have a lot more numbers.

Thanks, I live in So. California and have checked Autozone, & Kragen with no luck. I will continue to check others.

I use Castrol Syntech 5w50 and Fram oil filter. I buy mine from WAL-MART.
