opinions?

Anybody have an opinion about long term engine maintenance such as Rislone or Slick-50 in their atv's?
I intend to keep my 600 for a long time and I'm researching ways to get the maximum life-expectancy out
of my engine.
Also, any tips/suggestions for the gearbox and axles??

Read your owners manual. Many manufacturers do not recommend using any additives due to the fact that the engine oil also lubricates the clutch. I use the manufacturers oil. (i.e. Yamalube for my Kodiak 450 and Honda GN4 for the TRX).

Whenever I hear the words Slick-50, I think of a friend of a friend that put it in his car motor. They took the motor apart to fix it and the product was clumped up on the bottom of the motor. I think that some or all of those products are just over priced, last ditch efforts to make a motor run better. When the only thing that can really help is a rebuild.
I would just change the oil when it needs it and watch the other fluids. It always helps to NOT beat the quad. If you want to purchase something to dump into the motor. Just buy a better quality oil.

If I were you, I'd run synthetic motor oil, it maintains its' viscosity under a wide range of conditions. I run 0W40 in my bike, and find it's a good oil for all climates. I am using the AC brand, for warranty purposes.
