i tried like heck to insure quads back in the 90's (when they werent paid for) and i got laughed at by all the insurance companies

"quads?? whats a quad?? We don't ensure ATV's,,,,,good luck"

Insuring quads is a new thing for underwriters. They are still trying to figure the market out.

Sounds like Rod is Grandfathered in from the pioneer atv insurance days.
I didn't insure my quads until I got my 450R in Feb. 2004

Good mornin' PSAR
Man-o-man, 80 posts in one day. Insurance and gun talk!
One note on my insurance. I have liabilty and theft only, I did not go with collision. But I have NO deductable. Maybe that is why I got it for $65.00 per year per quad, that and I'm old!

Wow, don't hold anything back, people say you start waving a gun around, and the prices just plummet!

Does anyone have any info on GPS units that I can mount on our quads. I don't want to get something that is more than I need, but at the same time, I don't want to be without something that I do need. I want something that has parks and trails as well. I know all you tech. people will be able to stear me the right way.

Thanks

Hey WingyDingy,

Depends How much you really want to spend.....
Depends on what you want to do with it.............

If you would like a radio, then right now the Garmin Rhino is the only way to go.
With these you can keep track of each other on the screen
The minimum would be the Rhino 120
But they now have brand new ones, that have 5 watts transmit power. SPENDY though.

If you don't want the radio, then there are many many more to look at.
Rhinos, as others will pop up and say I'm sure, are nice..........

For those currently with the RHINOS

The FCC has just approved the transmitting of the buddy locator on the GMRS channels (higher watts, better range).
This is brand new. Before you could only transmit your position to another Rhino on the lower watt FRS channels.

You can upgrade your current radios to do this.
But you must download the updated software from the Garmin website.
It's pretty easy, I'll get the link and post it later tonight hopefully.
I'm not sure if they have the upgrade on the site yet, but you can check and see.

    On insurance........

    I called my Allstate agent....

$700 something a year for full coverage on both the Rincon and accessories and the 250ex.
    ALSO includes the trailer.
    That's with a $250 deductible, might just go with a $50 deductible we'll see.

gotta go load the quad & stuff up in the truck, pick the kids up at school, then head to SandB's to get the trailer and off to RMC we go
Should be there for the 3:00 start, or maybe 3:30.......

Hope to see ya there CHEECH,
Been forever, hope I recognize you, I'm so bad though I probably won't

I'll be in the big Green F350 crewcab bus with even bigger grey enclosed trailer.
    With a red LT80..........
