I was under the impression that anything you do to your engine internally would void the warranty. I didn't get an extended warranty as I would only have around 20 hrs on the quad when the warranty would run out. They want too much money for the extended warranty and there are way too many exclusions and things that aren't covered due to normal usage. I do know that pipe and filter changes won't void the warranty, don't know about CDI or ECU changes.
Would it matter if it went to the shop with an OEM CDI????? "I dunno... it just quit workin..."

There was a certain young man behind the counter, black hair and goatee that informed me that piping with a full system and air filter change would be taken care of by the stock ECU with no problems, he read that and passed that information on to me as the gospel according to the mags. I laughed under my breath and thought, you would trust what Yamaha and the mags say? I say, I'd rather have the extra insurance of being able to regulate my fuel flow right at the get go than to experience a meltdown He's young and hopefully he'll learn the fine art of salesmenship

Hey Now!!!

If you are ever passing through Colorado, you had better check out Black Canyon. No quads allowed, but what a place!!!

If a DS was to launch off that ledge,,,,,it would surely leave a huge crater about 800 feet down
