I mean, do you need a permit for Elk or Deer or anything else. Can you only shoot Elk if you are Elk hunting. And about the "Cow". I knw that it isn't a beef cow, is it.

You can only shoot Elk if you have an Elk tag. A cow is a female Elk.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

Ok Wingdude. When you get a tag for elk you are only aloud to shoot spikes. Which is a elk which only has one horn on each side, if it is a 2X1 the small one has to be 2 inches or less. You have to then send in for a "special permit" to get drawn for a big bull (either spike or big bull), or a cow (female- no horns), calfs(baby's). If you get drawn for a big bull you can shoot anything. That is why we think there wasn't any spikes around last year. Because the big bull hunters can shoot the spikes and usually they go home early since they got there meat. When you get a cow tag you can only, shoot cow elk's.
As for deer hunting i'm not sure what the permits are as i don't hunt those. If i would have to say i would say there is only one tag for all deers.
Does all that make since?
