I did some looking into the handle bars incident. With aluminum bars, on all machines, if the clamps are not torqued to 24-36 FT lbs (depending on manufacturer) the edge of the clamps can cut into the aluminum causing the premature failure.
The lesson is this folks..............use that torque wrench when installing nice and purdy aluminum bars on those rockets!
This is why the bar clamps do not go 360 degrees around the bars (hence the gap)

lesson #2 from the weekend. SAFETY WIRE YOUR GRIPS DOWN...............enough said on that issue.

I know a guy that can dial you in with a new set.
but yes, bar ends do help, if the inside is tied, and or glued. a half twisty grip blows goats!
I doubt that my bars were torqued any tighter than 30lbs....but what is the replacement interval for aluminum bars...the fact that they say premature failure to me says that they should list a replacemt interval knowing that they will fail...my bars were installed with a standard length end wrench....when I put my steel bars on in florance I used air tools but the 3/8 gun I used only produces 40 ft/lbs torque...I was just to sore to use the wrench and 40 lbs is not over torquing steel bars....I realize that metal fatiges but twenty hours....all but 2 of that was dunes....seems to frequent to be changing bars....
