Old PSAR thread - please see the new one
We had a great time at Tahuya yesterday. It was Cindy's first time on the trails with her 400EX and a clutch and she did really good!
No casualties and only one quad ridden into the bushes. That was a right hand turn Katie!
We did meet Mike (TReX400) and Mike (TenCubed) and they headed to Goat Ranch Road so Josh could play around while we were getting ready. 10 thought we might be too fast for him but we went to find him after we were all set to go and we didn't see them.
We road from Elf. to the pit, across the road through those trails and back to the pit. Then back to Elf. for a break. Didn't really go too fast since Cindy was getting used to a clutch on the trails and Katie has never really ridden trails much. Just the dunes with us. She says she prefers the sand!
After the break, Nate and I (the girls stayed at the truck in the sun) got to rip some trails. I was fun getting to open it up with my son right behind.
We road the Tahuya River trail and then crossed over to the 4X4 trails. Those trails are a blast. Wide enough for some real fast riding. The old man could still stay ahead of the son! I must have tired him out because he asked if I could slow it down a bit! LOL
It was a great day!

Ok, here's a question:
My 22-11-10 Holeshot XCT's are at the end of their life
My 700R's are 20-10-9 Dunlops
I have a 2 tooth bigger sprocket on the rear, 13/42, and the skidplate is shimmed
I haven't run 20's in years and have enjoyed the extra ground clearance from the 22's. I'm not ready to purchase new tires yet and am thinking of just running the 20's for a time. They don't have the nice aggresive tread design the Holeshots have, but they're better, I believe, than a set of worn down Holeshots. How many of you are running 20's and have you had any issues with clearance?

I run 20's and have never run 22's and I go where everyone else goes no problem. I'm still running the stock tires on my 450R, when they are finally worn out I'll probably stay with the same size but get more aggresive.
You only gain maybe, an inch and handling is affected a little with a taller tire. I've never seen a reason to go with a taller tire.
You've already geared you quad down and a smaller diameter tire will gear it down more. I don't think that would be a problem on the trails.
