Campers are as expensive as Travel Trailers, or very close in price.

You might want to take a look at Craigslist for Seattle and Portland. Been watching the RV's for sale and have noticed several really late model campers listed. We are sort of considering a small class C to replace our old pickup and camper. Not going to pay what they want for a new one after seeing the deal a friend got on a 5 year old unit. It's a Chev chassis with 8000 odd miles on it and looks and drives like it's brand new. He spent under $4000.00 including what he paid to have it detailed and checked out at Scamming World.

Exactly, I found my 11' 1985 Western Wilderness on craigs list. Good and solid older camper at a fraction of the cost of new Best of all no payments
Ok, Sean, speaking as one who travels with a bunch of kids and quads..............
IF you can be comfy in a camper, go for it! I would get a used camper. You can pull your enclosed trailer, a boat, or nothing and go about anywhere. Us, we wouldn't be comfy in a camper.
The kids could sleep in the enclosed with a baby monitor (or some intercom where you could monitor.
I think the next BEST for comfort and a happy wife (or whoever cooks ) is the motorhome + enclosed setup. Awesome! Especially now that you can get a used one with slides and solar at the end of april down in Arizona for a killer price! That is how I would go if I pushed it my way. You can pull a boat or atvs and its all good!
Next up, my next faves...........

Nick and I went to the driving range and hit them little white ***** with those stick things, that was a fun time, haven't done that in 30 yrs. Think it's time to hit one of them 9 hole courses, all I gotta do is find me a cheap set of sticks.

Sean,
If you are ONLY racing/quadding, get the used mh and enclosed!
Now, the Carson was awesome for us, worked great (except for the hot water heater) and we could tow it easy (and we did! to Glamis, Yuma, Palm Springs, and back while living in it!!!) We pulled that puppy around 20,000 miles in under 2 years
I LOVE the Adrenaline, but the cost is a bit much! We are realizing we have to give a few things up to have it. The kids adore it - room, entertainment, etc. -
