Old PSAR thread - please see the new one

Just got word, my cousin Ryan who belongs to 172nd Brigade Combat Team, (Stryker unit) based at Fort Wainwright, will see their return home delayed. They were scheduled to come home in 2 days after their 1 year tour, now looks like they will have their tour extended indefinitely. Their replacements are already in Mosul with them so we are waiting to hear if they will be staying where they are or moving to Baghdad. From his emails he is in the same kind of situations as Nate and has had some really close calls that are making his mother have some sleepless nights.
I am very thankful to all these exceptional men and women who are serving in our armed forces, past present and future, for everything they sacrifice to serve our country. Please keep them in your thoughts and do whatever you can to honor their service.

Tell your cousin and his parents how proud I am of him and all the other young men and women who have volunteered for service to this great country in such a time of turmoil.
I know it must be frustrating for your cousin just as it is for Nate, to have his tour extended.
Nate was only going to have one tour but now with the Army's Stop-Loss program he will end up having two. He was to come back stateside for 6 months and go back for six months. Now they are telling him he will be back for a year and return to Iraq for another year.
Nate thinks he will be home , here, on December 15th. It will be a very, merry Christmas!

LdyJay is right on target with this last paragraph. Seems to me it is time to take some action that will really let these people know of the support they have. Sending e-mails and donating to "care" packages being sent says something but I feel the need to do something more.
Since Rod's posting of his son's experiances I have learned of another young warrior that has been saved by body armor. The danger these people are facing needs to be honored and it is we here in the homes they are protecting that need to do it.
