Bummer Karl. I was looking forward to seeing all the work you've done on your Preddy out on the sand. I empathize with you about working for a corporation sometimes interfering with being able to actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. You guys will be missed.
Thanks for your understanding. Normally this isn't an issue for me because I make the plans for the projects and have back-up coverage for my absense. This time it's dealing with the fall-out of other's neglegent project management.
What would happen if you got sick?
That would be a different story in this case... not career limiting.
How is it career limiting if you can't be there to fix other peoples f up? It can't wait a few days? Bogus man, just bogus!
I agree, this is focking bogus. But this is temporary... part of the job in this case. Once the projects are managed properly, this will stop. Hence why I was asked to take the job. Once this is cleaned up, I'll move on to another f'd up job and sort it out...

The rest of the story...
I had to ask other people to do the same thing to support the project, it was a hard decision, but I had to make it. I wouldn't ask someone else to do the same thing if I wasn't there too. I don't see any credibility in a leader if the he goes on vacation while he asks others to come in. True, airplanes will be built if I'm there or not. It's unfortunate that this happend, and I'm more pissed than anyone out there, mainly because this was preventable. My priorities are Family and friends first, then all others. I honor my obligations and commitments to the best of my ability. The part that kills me is the level of effort my wife went through to make this happen and not going to Coos to be with my friends. It's a big let-down to my family and also to me because I said I would be there, but I had to make a decision and go with it. Especially when my leadership is counting on me to make things happen.

I did have a choice, I could have given them the finger and let certain people twist in the wind trying to make things come together. But I couldn't do that, it's not the way I operate. It may be a pain at the time, but it doesn't go un-rewarded in the long-run either. Also, this doesn't happen that frequently.

This last year has been busy with school and work and I was really looking forward to just campin' and ridin'. Especially since it's hard to get everyone going to the same place at the same time. I'll be planning another trip soon. It will all work out...

In the mean time, I'll drink beer and be pissed as hell.

Is a job really worth it if it screws up your personal and family life?
Wouldnt it look kinda funny if you was scheduled for vacation (wife works at same said company) and you both go missing for a few days?
scheduled vacations are scheduled vacations!
