The way those guys worked I think they were faster than the mixer Bing. One old dude that stood all of 5'5" and had to be in his 60's was the "dump truck". He had a square 5 gallon can with the top cut out and a piece of inch square wood screwed on the inside of one side for a handle. This guy would fill that can with gravel, sand or mortar, hoist it up on his shoulder and trot to where it was needed. Ladders and ditches were no obstacle. His asking rate was 60 Pesos for a 10 hour day. That was about $5.80 US at that time. He refused to take a bonus when the job was done. My friend told me the way around this was to give him a gift for his family and suggested that his wife may appreciate a cooking pot. I was cautioned to buy a moderately priced item as too expensive a gift would embarrass him. We also got him to take a new shovel as his was broken during the remodel.
Now that is a good man with pride in his veins, I wish there was more of that in this country! Kinda reminds me of my grandpa right up until the day he died.

Hows that lineman certification you were working/talking about Jayna?
Didn't apply. Knees are too bad for me to pass pole climbing certification class during fall/winter. I am going to shoot for next spring/summer to see if I can pass. I took the week long course about 4 years ago, but didn't pass because I hadn't sufficiently built my arm strength. To certify, you must be able to free climb the pole to 22' with, belt in, walk around the pole, unbelt, then climb down. I was able to climb and do everything else, just not past 14' without the safety belt. I didn't realize that before the class and had only concentrated on building my leg strength.

Kind of a bugger because there are a bunch of fiber tech jobs coming up, but have to have that cert first.

U didn't tell me U wanted to climb? Did I show U my spikes that grow out of my feet, Like a Cat Baby!

Also we do have apprenticeships that U don't have to climb, Unfortunatly they just tested for the new classes, but I can get U going in the right direction before next time. They are Cablesplicers(downtown) and Constructors(Sub stations).

It is a good thing that I am not one of those typical LINEMAN who question their masculinity cause TV/Phone are referred to as 12' foot ladder jockey's, But seeing that U are ONE AWSOME WOMAN and culd probably kick my ****, U can be a Lineman in my books and we can work on that climbing late winter ealy spring if needed.
That would be AWESOME! I could use all the prep I can get. If I get the climbing certification it will open my options up quite a bit. I would also love to look into the opportunity to change utility companies. Fiber is getting big, and my resume has the right background to stay current with where Verizon is going, but it never hurts to expand my options. I am pretty sure you guys have a higher pay scale than I do.

Careful Rancher, don't say anything to offend the regime, they might ban your whole family. Pretty sad and petty.
