This e-mail came to me in regards to the "ATV noise issue". You need to read the report and contact your legislators. There was never any proof there was a noise problem except for a few individuals who have backed doored us and used our off road funds to fund this BS. I attended the Olympia meeting and the committee took the minority position across the board.
People interested in the ORV Noise Solutions Project,
In 2006, the state Legislature passed a bill directing the Office of the Interagency Committee (OIAC, a state agency) to review existing laws regulating ORV noise and provide recommendations on equipment for enforcement, model ordinances, education, and a grant program.
To assist with this effort, OIAC appointed an advisory committee and hired a consulting firm to undertake research on laws in Washington and other states affecting ORV noise, conduct public workshops, develop an on-line questionnaire, draft a model ordinance, and make recommendations.
ESA-Adolfson Associates and a subcontractor specializing in acoustics, Geomatrix Consultants, Inc., have now completed their work and OIAC would like your feedback on their final report.
- You may download a copy of the report by following this link http://iac.wa.gov/Documents/IAC/Gran...tions_proj.htm
- Or contact Amie Fowler at AmieF@iac.wa.gov (360-902-3086) for a hardcopy.
Please send us your feedback by 5 pm, January 2, 2007 after which time we will compile all comments for presentation to the 2007 Legislature along with the Adolphson/Geomatrix report.
For further information on the ORV Noise Solutions project, please feel free to contact me.

If they are not staying with friends or at a major motel it might be wise to double check their lodgings. Lots of non-existant lodging has been sold in the past and will probably be in the future. A good way to check is thru the event sponsors.
Sturgis years ago was wild and from what I have heard it's almost impossible to get around town and the surrounding area during the event now.

Thanks for the heads up. I notice they want the replies back by January 2nd. Doing the whole thing while people are busy with the holidays and apt to put off writing a letter to their legislators.
This is the kind of thing that sneaks up on us, every person that visits this forum really needs to e-mail then write and call their state legislators as well as those listed in the posting above. Fail to take action on this and your riding areas are going to go away a little at a time.
Anyone disagree with my assessment on this? Any reason not to take appropriate action?
Added as edit:
OK, I went to the online document listed above and it won't open. Returns as "project not found". I'll call them in the morning.
