We have one of the Swisher "rough cut" tow behind mowers for keeping the brush, weeds and sagebrush along fence lines and around outbuildings down. Not real good for getting into corners and tight areas. Be really easy to mow the flower garden down without meaning too. Still use a push mower and lawn tractor for the yards. The Swisher Co makes finish cut mowers to 60" wide and the quality is really good. Very happy with the service we have gotten from them. The rough cut will pretty much level most anything the quad will run over.
Swisher does make a front mount deck that goes on a quad that may work for a lawn but I think it would be a bit cumbersome.

We CAN'T be w/o a rider that's for sure, the yard was beginning to look jungleish LOL, so we were @ Home Depot yesterday & seen this little one, same brand(YardMan) as our old one, it's smaller 13.5HP & 38" cut but the price was RIGHT on sale for $799 so we decided we'd better bring it home!!! It's a nice little mower, instead of green/yellow this one is black IT'S HOT Ron has already put quad stickers on it LOL, this even has a cup holder on it haha so he FINALLY got the jungle mowed YIPEEEEEE cuts real nice so hopefully it'll last as long as the old one, if Wunderboy doesn't flattrack it it should be all good

Edit: After thought here OFC. Before you buy one if you want to try ours I can bring it over from the farm sometime this summer so you can do a test run.

I think the cut width on the rough cut is 42" which is a little small for big areas. It's built like a brush hog with the heavy spinning plate and cutting blades that swing off of it. It'll do the job on a pasture for sure but the wheels and tires that come on it are kind of narrow for wet areas. It would be an easy fix to put wider wheels and rubber on it for more flotation. If you go for one of these things get the big engine with the electric start. Heavy, wet grass needs the extra HP. If the 14 thats on ours ever goes out I'm gonna put on something a little bigger and the 14 is the biggest they offer.

its a manicured field on a hillside is the problem. and big john starts sliding when its wet and there is no grass left just cut it with the 60" 20hp lawnmower but it has to be dryer than a popcorn fart to pull that off in the steeper areas.. where the outlander could drive around and not tear up the young grass. just playin with ideas to accomplish things easier. Was watchin the DR brush cutter one on TV.. it really dont need to be a bush hog type.. it could be a lawmower. as there is no rocks or sticks. Serious prep went into the makin of these coupl small pastures (summer turnouts really) winter time the horses get allotta gravel, gravel, and sacrifice fields.

You might want to go to the Swisher web site, they google up easily, and take a look at the bigger finish cut mowers they offer. Since you got over it with a lawnmower you probably want to do more of a manicured finish and the "Rough Cut" is, well a rough cut. I saw a parks department guy in Portland pulling two of the 60" Swishers with a large yard tractor with a mower deck under it. Now he was cutting a wide swath each time around. I have been considering getting another rough cut to reduce the time spent on the job. The ability to off-set the hitch and pull one behind the other is a nice feature.

well it is for horses. But it would be nice to be able to mow the 2+ acre lawn aswell. but then it would be nice to be able to zip around the tighter spots with it also in the other fields.. never know. Might just have to cut down more trees.. they just make a mess anyway and it looks nices are grass with a few select trees Its always the dilema between bigger or smaller. smoother or rougher
