Beverly Hillbillies Part Deux
Friday night Wade and son watch 2mny fiddle fart around with the Preddy putting the carb on, then load the trailer with all the quads.
2mny, MadMaxx, Wade700 and son leave at 6:00 Saturday morning... all is well. Nice trip over the hill and round the corner to drive through the town of deliverance (AKA Beverly) and the transmission (New BD tranny) on the Dodge won't shift up past 2nd or 3rd and go over 30mph. Thinking odd, since it didn't get over 160 degrees climbing the hills. Wade had this happen to his truck once and it corrected itself after it cooled down. So we went riding... A great day of riding at that. Wade was able to take his son out and run all over Beverly... Then MadMaxx took him for a ride where he could jam down trails while I watched his son...
We loaded the quads up and headed home... at 30 mph. Not good. So we pulled over at the gas station where we could wait and called the towing company. I explained we had a one ton dually extra cab and a 20' enclosed trailer and said we needed to be towed to Ellensburg. Then dispatched Mrs. Toyz to get the Tajmahauler to come get us and the trailer...
An hour or so pass by and this guy shows up from Quincy with an Isuzu overcab flatbed truck that appeared to be smaller than my truck... he winched the Dodge up on the truck, with the duals hanging over and coupled up the trailer. I looked at the passenger seat of the tow truck and asked where 4 people were going to sit... he said "In your truck...". Thinking to myself "WTF?????" then "What are our choices?" We piled in the truck on the flatbed with a 20' trailer behind it and gusting eastern Washington winds and put our seat belts on... Ironically when we were riding to Ellensburg, wondering if we were under 14' tall, Sammy Hagar's song "I Can't Drive 55" was playing on the i-pod...
We get to Ellensburg and square up with the tow truck company after the insurance paid their part; we wander into the car rental store that owns the shop the truck was dropped off at to square up the details on the truck. While we waited, this couple and teenage kid were renting a car, since their Dodge Caravan had broken down. They finish their deal and I sit down to work the details on coordinating the truck repairs, the guy comes back in and says "There's one extra mile on the SUV I'm renting, and is smells of cigarette smoke". Thinking to myself, you're a cheap b'stard for the one mile...
After we finish our thing at the shop, we walk across the street to this BBQ place and have dinner. Mrs. Toyz joined us and all was well...
We finish dinner and go out to couple up the motorhome to the trailer. While we were hooking up the trailer, this very same couple mentioned above pushes their van out into the street and blocks it... We're all loaded up and ready to go, but now have to watch the following play out...
This van is in the center of the street, cross wise. A U-Haul car hauler in the parking lot in front of the van with the ramps extended, not attached to anything (like a tow rig). This white Ford SUV pulls up behind this van... we all said "Is this what we think is going to happen..." Sure enough, he slowly pulls up to the van and proceeds to push the van with this rental SUV up the trailer. Of course the van goes up the ramps, until it shoots out from underneath it like a watermelon seed. In awe, we gasped and exclaimed "I can't believe we just saw that..." Then the true testament to his wit, he tries it again! Not once, not twice, but four or five times, all ending up with the same result. We asked each other, "Should we go out and help?" The answer was clearly NO, we didn't want to get hurt or be involved with this idiot that complained he had one extra mile on his rental then trash it like he did.
Finally, he gets in the van, starts it up and drives it up onto the trailer... WTF????
I felt kind-of bad, so I e-mailed the rental place to let them know to check for front end damage and here's his reply:
Thank you for your detailed email, it will be most valuable in getting him to cover not only the front end damage, but also where (apparently) he backed in to the trailer and ran the tongue up and over the bumper and in to the rear deck lid.
Yes this will be a very expensive rental for him.

Sand shoes on, skid plates off, fuel full, extra tires loaded, tools, camping gear, quad all loaded. Just loading the grub, firewood and verifying Rockstar supply tomorrow and ready to GO!!! taking the rig to work for and early, early shift Wednesday, then OUT to the DUNES!!!WAHOO!!!!

Yes this will be a very expensive rental for him.
