Looking for places to Ride (legally) around Palm Springs California. I usally just head out to the nearest patch of desert but can't afford a ticket. Will be taking out a Polaris Trail Boss 325 (for the wife) and a Honda 250R (85 ATC) that I just got.

I presume you are talking about local quickie rides, not places like Ocotillo Wells or Glamis????

To bad, in the old days we use throw on a set of paddles, and pop out to Whitewater for a few hours riding.

We went to Whitewater when we first got our quads. Good thing we were on private property when the BLM rolled in. Other folks there werent so lucky though recieving $175 dollar tickets. The desert to the west of white water is "private property". There is little sand there and some cool trails. The off limits area is marked with orange stakes. Ohh yeah the BLM was gonna impound our quads till we showed proff of reg.

WhiteWater: About a year ago I went up there in my car to the trout pound at the top. I saw signs that said that OHV was allowed but heard through the grapevine that they shut it down. Will have to go check it out.

I usally go to EDEM Hill for a quick in-town ride. EDEM hill is right next to the 10, exit date palm. I was riding there one day and had my daughter (5 years) on with me (in front of me and rideing SLOOOOW) when 2 cops on quads pulled up to me. They told me not to DBL ride and said that its only OK to ride west of the "SCOOP". Cop was cool he actually used his cell to call the wife to pick up the kid and let me ride of to the scoop.

Yesterday It rained (whet from like 110 degs to about 75). I when out there and there was about 12 other riders out riding there.

Still not sure if its legal or not but..........

Will have to try the other places mentioned.

P.S. I have been to Glamis and Occ Wells before I got my quad. How would the TB325 do at glamis? OCC Wells would be doable with the TB.......

At Whitewater, we use to ride the dunes south of 111, and up against the mountain. Ah the good old days!

reconranger I remeber riding in those sandhills. It was nice but know they have signs up and ranger will hide behind a bush and wait for you. I have not been there for awhile just because I dont need a ticket. Have you tried beaumont? 10fwy and 60fwy.

I don't try to ride Whitewater anymore either.

I never personally got run out of Beaumont, but lots of people say they have. Even though it is close to my house (I can ride to there on powerline roads if I want) I have not been there in a very long time. Might go back when the weather cools, just for old time sake.
