Hey PFO, lots of great places to ride close to Colorado Springs. I actually live up in Denver, but we ride down there often. Trail 717 network is close and Rainbow Falls and Rampart Range are both close. Head on over the here and check out the Rocky Mountain Rock Hoppers section of the forums for loads of Colorado info.

Hey Scooter,
Thanks for the info, didn't know about the Rockhoppers forum. Will check it out often. Cob gave a great link to a ton of trails, check it out if you haven't already. I have only been to Colorado 3 times, really messed up my head! I own a Cabinet shop here and it will be very difficult to give it up, but to be there........ well, you know! Thanks again. (Think ya'll could stand one more Texas boy up there?) LOL

Scooter,
My wife and I want to move there to get away from the big city. I beleive there are about 4 million people that live in Colorado, there are that many living in Dallas/ Ft. worth area! I noticed you live north of Denver, how bad is the traffic up there? We have heard the winters are a little better in Co. Springs,(something about the mountains on north and west side. I grew up in the country and would like to get back there. My wife is somewhat a city girl, although she does hunt, fish and rides 4 wheelers with me, but just not as ate up with it as me. We are planning a trip up there to check out the job and housing situation asap. The problem in my business has always been finding good help, so I wouldn't think I would have too much of a problem finding a decent job if it's the same up there. I will be looking for a management position, or Drafter- Designer. I bought Cabinet Vision 4 years ago to draw and cutlist our cabinets and love the program. Thought about starting a shop up there, but would probably rather work for someone and have 1/2 the headaches! Will have to be the right situation, and won't mind starting at the bottom if need be. How long have you lived up there?

I lived in the Springs for several years, I moved here about a year ago, but the thing with Colorado Springs is they have a whole lot in a little space, and the drivers there are nuts, example: yellow light means slow, red light means 3 more cars can go thru. I did some riding on rampart range, but most of my riding was done at Pueblo, they have a big off road park there with mx track/drag strip and miles of open trails w/hills.

Zoo,
At least the lights up there mean something!! I know what you mean though, there are idiots everywhere, just looking to even out the ratio a little bit. I can put up with a whole lot to be able to look at mountains everyday! Hoping to live 20 - 30 minutes out of town. The riding up there sounds just too awesom.

We've been here 9 years, and I wouldn't move away for anything. We love it here, but I grew up in Southeast Idaho, in the Rocky Mountains there, but too small of a city for me. I travel for business quite often, and have been to Dallas several times, not for me! That is too big of a city for me. Here is manageable, but it is very easy to get away from it all. Email me here if you want to talk more about what job options are out here.

Just found out yesterday that my son is going to be based at Fort Carson so I will be looking for riding areas in that area for when I go to visit him. What time of year does it get too much snow for the quads?
He will be arriving at Fort Carson in November and leaving for Iraq in March so I'm sure I'll have to wait for him to get back from Iraq to go down there to go riding. Just looking for riding info now.
Thanks for any info

Hey PFO, welcome to the site.
There are TONS of great areas to ride here in the Springs. I just moved here in July, and I've been amazed by the variety. Everything from MX to sand dunes, to mountain trails...
I'm going to have to take advantage of this opportunity for another shameless plug... You should check out www.ATVColorado.com. It's a newer website that has pictures, links, and trail info specifically for Colorado. Almost all of the trails listed so far are in the Colorado Springs area, but it'll eventually cover all of Colorado and the Southwest.
I didn't know about the Rock Hoppers site either, I'm going to have to check that one out. Thanks guys!
