Default NORTH CAROLINA, COROLLA QUESTIONS?

I am going on a week long vacation in the spring and was interested in getting info on places to ride in north carolina.
I heard that you can legally ride atv's on the beaches of corolla and some of the outer banks.
Does anyone know if this is true, also do you need a sticker or flags?
Any info on this area or any legal off road parks or land please help me out with info and or phone #'s or links.

Yes it's true.
Its alot of fun. You can go for miles.
The dunes riding is also a blast.
You will see the wild horses.

The only problem is Hurricane Isabel may wash out your plans.

No stickers or badges.

Just watch your speed.

Default NORTH CAROLINA, COROLLA QUESTIONS?

In May of 2000 they changed the law because a kid got killed on a quad on the northern beaches. Now the only way to get a permit is to be a permanent resident. Even if you own a house there but don't live there all the time you can't get a permit. You still see some people riding around but only until the sheriff sees them. Anyway hope I saved you the trouble of hauling quads for nothing.

So one reply says yes the other says no, can anyone shed more light on this?
Are you still allowed on the beach with a 4x4 SUV?
Thanks

take it from me, i live here, you have to be a currituck county resident and have liability insurance to drive ATV's on the beach in corova (corolla) yes they still let trucks out there and any vehicle that is street legal can go out on the beach (its considered a state mandated highway) there is No where to ride on the beach or anywhere for that matter on the outer banks.
so, no, you should not bring your ATV it will be a waist of your time
