We are going out to the Dunes for these weekends and I was wondering if anyone else had planned on being there? I know Barney has gone up on the prices and everything but, Man I gotta have some sand!

 

Shannon, I might make the trip next weekend. I will let you know sometime this week. But remember the weekend before Halloween a few of the forum members from the Dallas area are coming to the Dunes to ride. They have some fast 686 craycraft raptors coming. My cousin on his 690 wants a shot at them. Thats the next for sure weekend I will be there.

Ok well I was just informed that we will be there for the first weekend in October...So that gives you alittle more time to plan!

Anyone else planning any trips to the dunes. Or maybe making it for the weekend before Halloween. I'm still not a fan of Holiday weekends. To many idiots.

i havent been in awhile either.. but i hear its a lot stricter now @ the dunes - you have to sign a waiver before you are let in. there's an online form on their site that you can bring it to them or they give you one. im not totally against it but i have some questions about it.
also:

- no more rding at night is allowed
- "drag racing is not reccomended nor allowed."
i wonder if the drag racing statement is a C.Y.A. statement they made for the insurance people? They really should 'allow' it - maybe not recomend it. If safety is their concern, they should designate a place away from the entrance hill to do drags for the people that dont have sense enough to know they are crossing the paths of high speed quads and for those that just race in weird places. they could put cones or something around a designated area....

i'm all for safety and there does need to be some simple rules/regulations in places like this. But too often real solutions arent found - just banning things seems to be their quick way out. All sides can be made happy and reach a compromise with just a little effort and planning.

anyone been there since they changed their rules? how was it other than the fact that the sand is rough as hell?

 

A couple of my friends went two weeks ago. They said its about the same. Drag racing like normal. So I think its just part of his new insurance agreement.

 

I'll be there the weekend before Halloween too. Some of the TX guys are comming as well.
