well i don't like to bash sleds...... i like them too! but there are places for sleds and none for atv's. it sucks when im at home sitting in fornt of the t.v. i listen to them going by all the time! but when i make 2 ya 2 passes down my alley (little road between streets for those who might not know. hey some people don't know) the cops are there in like 10 mins. and dude my bikes not that louad at all. so now most of the time we pack up the truck and go some where else...
sorry for the rant... but it makes me think "why do i have a atv anyway?" i pay taxes! where's my freaken trails? i would register it but... why? so i can own one and not use it?? well i think it just sucks!!! oh well sorry guy's again for the rant!!

I hear ya Geenbud and all the others who have a quad with know wheres to ride. With SAFTY being #1 with the dealers and riders you would think that dealers would have to organize a club. After all there is safty in numbers and I was told to ride with a buddy.
Sorry to bitch about sleds but they seem to have more freedom and trails available to them and we have zilch.

I heard you can ride on Grand Island. It's not leagel but a friend of mine belonds to a gun club there and he sees people riding to and from there. He says he heard you can almost ride all the way around the Island!!! I've never done this but I've heard acouple of people talk about it at gun raffles.

crazyjoe,
i know a few people on the island and yes there are trails every where.. but i would never go there because 1. i can't just ride from my house. (well i could but i wouldn't) 2. i don't know the trails and i don't want to **** people off. and the cops........ are not very nice! at all!
so a buddy of mine works with a guy that has alot of land in wilson i've been there once it was great (no jumps) but we pull up in the trucks unload and go right from his back yard...
now that's what i'm talking about... the next house i buy will be set up like that...
hey joe! good name ! where in buffalo are you where do you ride??? oh ya have you ever been to well it has a few names but here go's dow's hill, or demmeler's hill.? it's off river road (coming from buff) behind the old summit park mall.. when i ride around here that's where i go. but the cops..... some times they are waiting for you when you get back there... then you have to run.. they will take your bike and give you a ticket... yes it's real sad! (for those who don't have this problem) MAN IT SUCKS!!

Word of caution dont ride in or around Manorville, the people call the cops to bust people there all the time. A buddy of mine and myself got busted there in the fall and got $2,800.00 in fines for each of us. Impounded on the first offense. The cops and DEC came up to us and zipped our brakes closed. We had to go to court twice...it sucked. The cops follow trailers and bust the kids on quads all the time. Plus once my truck got F'ed with where I left it. The cops were like "that S'cks for you" now leave.

I "donated" my quad after I got busted, I was never a big fan of them anyway. I have a dual bike at my house in Vermont so I ride up there. I'm from your area too, the horseman's association and hikers are big on reporting on people ridding on the trails over that area. Its your choice what to do, I'm just telling ya I know a lot of people in the area who have been nailed. Its the precious Pine Barrens so they levy the fines big time. You had to see the impound yard, it had about 40 quads and bikes their. I swear that LIORV club has sleeper agents; I told a few where I rode and then I got caught. Its not worth a second offense so I do all my ridding out of state.

ya know i hate to be negative, but that long island business really sucks & i'd be rippin pissed if they took my 4-wheeler from me & slapped me w/ tickets, i live in southern tier ny & i personally don't won any land, i have friends that do, friends w/ acess to trails but even still trails riding just is'nt much fun enless u have no worrys & can go for ever. but ya know along w/ some earlyer comments. i don't own a sled anymore & i have nothing against em, of course most sled owners are also ATV owners, but sleds have so much freedom, i wish quads could share land & have marked trails like sleds do, i've check trail pass & such, & paragon along w/ any other park is gonna be very regulated, & also crowded to some extent. but i just wanted to comment although don't want to come across negative, cuz i have family on long island & my cuzin had some friend in i believe it's yapank, i took a mountain bike back there 4-5 years ago & i had never seen trails so extensive in such a confined area & nice trails too, but i ended up getting lost & went in circles, which put me about an hour 1/2 later a mile down the rd. but my cuzin said people get tickets & bikes/ atv's taken all the time cuz the cops are called as soon as someone starts an engine, REDICULOUS is all i have to say, thank god i don't live down on the island or other parts of the city, but up here it's not getting a ny better, time'll tell although the situation will probally never look much better

NY400, I own 9 acres in Marcy, NY I have two lots that are seperated buy land that was bought by the power lines that come from Canada. The lines go all the way to NY City. Sometimes we ride the trails that were made for the power co. to service these poles, we are not supposed to but they let us ride on thier land just the same.
Most violaters are drivers that are useing the road as a trail or going way to fast to be safe.
These violaters ruin it for the rest of us who just want to enjoy ourselves, its a shame.
