I have been involved in this project since the beginning. Here is what I know so far:

NEAVTA approached the owner of the practice track and inquired about building a quad track. The owner said he wanted $12,000 to start construction. The club and owner decided that 50 people committing $250 each would get the track built and those people would have a one-year pass to the track.

The club could only get about 30 people to commit. (Yes, I was one of the people who walked around the track last year, asking people about signing up). The club felt that since we did not reach the magic number of 50, that the track was not going to be built. But early this winter, the owner said that was enough people and would build it. But when it came time for the 30 people to write the checks, only about 10 people did.

Again, the club felt that the track was not going to get built. After I heard how many people were willing to write the checks, I emailed the owner directly and asked about the track status. Here is his reply:

“Mike, the rains of April caused a delay to everything at the track, and I'm hoping to get down there in the next week to begin getting everything ready. Will post it on the site, or get a totally new site dedicated to Quads.
I'm suprised that there is reluctance to paying the membership fees to your association, but understand the problem. I will build the track, offer it for quad use, and if the funds aren't there, I'll put it back to bikes.
Keep checking the website, the conditions will change soon.”

I emailed the owner again about a week ago, but I have not heard a reply. I really hope that the practice track gets built.

I still have not yet heard anything from the owner. And I am seriously wondering if he backed out.

The web site is www.ctmotocross.com

Send him an email and let me know if you get a response. The track is located about 15 minutes south of Hartford. Right off 91.

If he fails to build this track, then I will have to start looking for a private track to practice on. I would be willing to help with upkeep or pay to use the land.
