about the only gov't land is Kisatchie National forest, and they have certain areas your allowed to ride. I dont know them myself as I have never been there.

Another area is the Bonnet Carre Spillway in Norco (just west of New Orleans). Its owned by the army corp of engineers, and we (the south louisiana trailblazers) keep it open for ATV's by maintaining the trail system and doing upgrades and such.

Everything else in LA is private land that people charge you to ride on.

reason why i ask

we have some land in the atchafalaya basin. there are many pieces of property that are "state lands". anyone is allowed to hunt on them. i was asking if there was any "state lands" outside the basin to hunt.

i would go to our place in the basin more, but its only accessible by boat and that gets to be a hassle.

with the new law passed last year about land not having to be posted, who knows. I ride Ft Polk all the time (well, when I'm home). Never had any issues.

Camp Claiborne is just up I-49 from you in Forrest Hill. The Enduro Camp in Kisatchie Natl' Forrest is about 120ish miles from you in Cravens. The Spillway (as mentioned above) is about what, 150miles?

find out what ranger district etc that area is in (check your La. hunters booklet) and call and find out. What do you ride?

Where exactly is fort polk (close to Leesville?), and what kind of riding is it? Muddy? Good trails? Trail length? We are looking for somewhere to ride this weekend (jan 23-24) and need the 4 1 1 on some places.

well, when I say Ft Polk, I mean out in the tank ranges. Where the military does their training. Most other people are referring to the Enduro Camp that is right on the edge of Ft Polk. It's just trails, lots of them. Only thing I didn't like about the Enduro area was the roots in the trails

I have some pics from a ride we took there in Aug http://www.krawdaddy.net/atv/enduro.htm
