This past weekend was the most pleasant trail riding experience I have had in a long time. We spent 2 days riding at Michael Colleys " State Of Mind Ranch " near Broken Bow, Okla. This guy is a real hoot and a gem of a guide to the local mountain trails.
Mr. Colley is in the middle stages of setting up his own property for camping and trailriding in the middle of the Kiamichi Wilderness. He has so many options for you to do and see that it cant be done in a whole weekend. Wanna camp like in the old west ? How about camping in a Gen U Wine Indian Tepee ? Or you can bring your own rig, big or small.
Now, we are talking " The Sticks " so dont expect to scoot down the street to a Sonic. Ya gotta bring ur own stuff. However, there are country stores within 20 miles East or Weat. The Hanobia store offers " Stuffed " Cheese burgers thatil make ur tongue slap ur brain.
Michael is developing trails for Big Iron and small right on his own property. You can also use the State Of Mind Ranch as a staging area to literly thousands of trails and fireroads all the way from Clayton to Arkansas.
Saturday was a 8 hr learning -riding day for us. Michael gave us the tour of the area on quads. It is an impressive place and we had lots of fun.
Sunday we got into some serious trail riding and fireroad running. Did I mention it is also beautiful out there ? Many streams to cross and side trails to explore.Sat we met exactly no other vehicles. Sun we met exactly 1 pickup in 6 hours of riding. I feel that this area will become a better " Clayton" in the forseeable future for ALL styles of OHVing be it Jeep, Quad, dirtbike or Horse.
We have several pics but I only know how to send them by email. See TxLady herding Goats on her Kodiak, many grins.
Like most of us Mr. Colley has a real job and u must call ahead to set up any date u wish to be there. He will bend over backward to see that u have a good time. Do a search on State of Mind Ranch for particulars.
Will we go back ? Bet ur Bippie
