It's a nice place, not very big for an all day ride. The water level right now is a bit high so the beach area is limited. Last time I was there, after the water had been very high, lots of trees had been washed up on the shore restricting a lot of riding. The Core has probably been working on this to get it cleaned up some. Maybe some of us from Polaris Outdoors will head out there.

Dawn,
I believe the area below the dam is open, now that the eagles have finished nesting.
It's a fun place if you don't have too much debris from the heavy rains as Brent has stated. As you're going into Appalchia Bay, if the first parking area is full, go on a little farther to the other parking area. Take all the side trails you see, some of them lead to interesting places, like the high cliffs above the water. Also there's some fun hills to climb, search them out too. Chances are, it's gonna be a very busy place on Memorial Day, so get there early, or you'll more than likely be parking on the road. When the waters isn't so high, there's an island you can ride to. But even last summer it was up to my headlights on my big 650 Arctic Cat. Hope you & your friends have a fun day at Appalchia Bay. Regards, Jerico1

LocknLoad,
Exit Will Rogers Tpk. on westbound hwy. 412, which is, (aka Interstate 44 & 244), stay on 244 at the 44/244 split to the Sand Springs exit ( 64/412). Keep going west past Sand Springs on 64/412 (10 - 15 miles) to Appalchia Bay, Bears Glen exit. Follow signs to trails. Jerico1

Will Roger turnpike turns into 44. take that to the 412 I244 and stay right. Take 244 all the way into downtown Tulsa. Then stay to the left down town to the Hwy 64 split. Take 64 all the way through Sand Springs and out to Keystone. Once you cross the long bridge, exit at the first bridge (Bears Glenn, Appalacia Bay). Go back over the Hwy and take a right, then the first left. That will take you to the entrance (no fee!). When you go through the gate, make a left on to the gravel road. That's it.
