Lots of good trails up here in Claremont. You can park at Burget King on Washington St
and either go up the hill or ride east along Washington St and get on the Sugar River
trail (rail bed) and ride 8 miles to Newport.

There are a few muddy sections, but easy ways to bypass them. Generally though, the trails are dry
and pretty good. The Sugar River trail between Claremont and Newport is fast and dry. It's also open
to others so you have to watch out for walkers, bicycles and even horses, but the trail has some very long
straight sections so you can see quite far ahead.

The Sugar River trail also features two rail road wooden covered bridges if you like that sort of thing...

We might be up for a ride this weekend if you are thinking of coming up.

I haven't been to Hooksett, but if you go, let us know how it is.

Yes, you can drive ATVs up the auto road of Mt Washington. You need a
valid driver's license, no passengers (unless factory two-seater), no helmet
required and it costs $10 per machine/driver. The website is here:

http://www.mt-washington.com/autoroa...clelimits.html

It's a great ride, but bring winter coats and gloves and some face protection.

We can get to the Claremont trails from the end of our road, so drop me a note
if you want to try them out.

The auto road for Mt Washington is located on NH Rt 16 between North Conway and Gorham, NH. Probably
a 7 hour ride from NYC I'd guess. The ride itself up the road will take about 25 minutes, or longer if you stop
and admire the view as you go up.

There are plenty of other things to do in the White Mountain region (camping, amusement parks, etc)
so spend a weekend up there if you plan to come up.
