I was wondering about all the extra permits you have to buy. What did you have to buy permit and pass wise when you go? Heard there were alot of money. Also how big are the dunes there, feet wise i have been to glamis were the dunes there are 500 feet tall.

Silver Lake will be a BIG disappointment for you if you've been to Glamis. There's only 450 acres and it's usually over crowded and rough on the weekends. If you go you'll need to buy an ORV sticker ($16.25), a day pass ($8 non resident i think?), and get a parking voucher (free) for weekends.

Do you get all that at the dunes? What are the db requirements? I herd that you have to have a special whip flag, not just any ol' one will work?

Here is a link to some info for you.DNR Website for Silver Lake

On the flag issue, you are better off just to buy one from the Duneland shop when you get there. The flag has to be a certain height and certain size. They are about $20 at the Duneland shop right next to the park.
