Great place to ATV as its right at the trailhead. I've ridden for days never covering the same trails twice. Good places to stop and eat/get gas along the way too. For the winter they also have decent rates on snow mobiling and if you catch the owner while he's there he'll can act as a trail guide for you as well. They rent houses and motel units for overnight people as well. Get tired of ATVing the casino is about 45 mins away

Yeah but aren't those snowmobile trails? We've ridden on them a few times and talked to different people, some have said they are strictly sled trails while others say as long as you don't go across the street, you can ride anywhere. We go to a place outside of Wolverine and we can hop on some trails that lead to Indian River.

Thats correct most of the trails are snowmobile and so in the winter its not as good a ride. However, they are wide open in the fall spring and summer. Sorry about that I should have noted that.

Umm..I hope your not riding where your not supposed to!

Unless they have a county ordinance, snowmobile trails are not to be traversed by ATV's.

That is the best way to get places that we CAN ride shut down..please do some checking with DNR+ local county sheriff...they wont steer you wrong!

I've checked and while there are many snowmobile trails there are just as many ATV/Motorcycle trails as well. Both are clearly marked. I agree - encroaching on snowmobile trails is a no no. Pay attention to the signs

And DONT take EVERYTHING you hear from the local DNR or Sherrif's department as GOLD.

ASK for a COPY of the LOCAL ORV ordinance from these guys.TOO many of them will just tell you what THEY want you to hear and NOT what the ORDINANCE reads, and thats just flat WRONG too!

You can also visit ATVOFFROAD.NET and ask questions there. Its not uncommon for a few members to know the ordinances far better than the local law enforcement guys.
