I think that they're having a 4X4 Jamboree that weekend (Oct.7&8). They don't let quads or bikes in when they have a truck event going on.
Go to their website to check it out.

I had a great time there on the 30th (Sept). I only dissappointed by the fact that quads we not allowed on the MX track.
The most unique feature I liked was the small cliff-jumps (jumping down). One semi-challenging hill to climb was the one with a CAUTION sign at the top. There were many other that were also fun but for that one I had a small crowd watching (15~30 quads).
I have a few (very few) pictures from that trip since we rarely stopped riding. Check them out at http://dvnt1.homeip.net I'll be modifying my site a lot over the next couple weeks and adding more pictures as well.

Well, we did go this weekend, and we were allowed to ride, in spite of the Jeep Jamboree. We evened watched the 4x4's play in the mud, and hills, etc. Saw some great vehicles. Badlands is an awesome place to ride, with such a variety of terrain. Hell, we even noticed three distinct types of mud (watery, gumbo, and swap (stanky!)). We had to leave at five pm, because of the Jamboree, but at least we got to ride. Our in-laws prefer to play in the sand and gravel, like some of you, but my wife and I enjoyed the hills, mud, and trails. We will definitely be going back.

They were telling folks that called or checked the webpage that they were closed to ATV's, but they decided not to turn anyone away that showed up at the gate. You just had to agree to give the Jeeps and trucks the right-of-way, and you had to leave the park at 5pm, because they were having a catered dinner. There was easily between 100 - 200 ATV'ers and motorcycles there.
Hey, BigBoy400ex, can you give me directions on how to get to Haspin Acres? It's a lot closer, and we would like to check it out...
