I thought it would be nice to start a thread where us South Dakotans could trade riding areas and other such related topics. So if your in S.D. and know some good places to ride lets talk.

There's a pretty good spot over by south shore...an abandoned gravel pit that's open to atv's...that's just a little north of watertown.

Two good ATV clubs in SD one in Brookings and one in Rapid. Try this sight http://www.sdohvc.org/
We are working with Federal and state agency's to get some trails in SD and both these clubs are member of sdohvc which also includes snowmobiles, 4X4's, dirt bikes and any other off road users that would like to join. I also have a web sight but until the interest is shown as to how one rides and thier interest in joining a club it's tough to give all info. Ed and I live 10 miles from the wyoming border.

I just went ridding in the hills for the first time this last weekend. We got on the trails at Whitetail court resort just south of Lead. The entry into the trails was real rocky but after that there was few obstacles until we started getting deeper into the woods. I highly recomend finding a good map of the trails before going out into the woods, the trails are poorly marked.

Just take the South Shore exit, then hang a right and go to South Shore(about 6 miles east) and the pit is about a mile east of town, They have a sign up and you can see the trails from the road. THey have a little MX track and a slough if you like to play in the mud plus the gravel pit part. Its a pretty good time.

Sounds like a cool place to ride, if it's still raining tomorrow I might drive up there to look at it, can't do much else anyways. Thanks for the info.

Come on up to craven corner this friday at 1:00 pm, theyre having atv races for both sport quads and 4 wheelers. It is kinda tame motorcross track that is 3/10's of a mile per lap. It is about 20 miles west of aberdeen. They are having another one on the 26th too. All broken up into different classes and they"ll be dealer displays, concessions, the whole nine yards, should be fun for all. Also trying to get a mini class going.
