Where to camp and ride in Ohio

Wayne National Forest is a good place foir your wife to ride but one of the best riding places for the drive is Hatfield Mccoy in Southern West Virginia. It is totally worth it. Go to www.trailsheaven.com f0r more stuff about it. I go there all the time.

Yeah, for long weekend trips WV sounds like a great place to go but it's 5 1/2 hours from me. There are options but all require a 2 hour+ drive. I would just hate to drive 2 hours to camp and ride just to find out the trails are too advanced for my wife. I'm thinking of October for Hatfield trip and renting a cabin.

Thanks

NE Ohio here too (Massillon) I hear Bear Creek near Canton has some easy trails that wouldn't be too bad for beginners. They also have camping too. Sounds like what you're looking for. Check 'em out....

Thanks fyrewood, I ride Bear Creek all the time. They have a really nice area of trails that are flat and perfect for noobs. The KOA campground is down the road and that means loading and unloading everyday to go out. Bear Creek does have camp sites but they only use them on the major holiday weekends. I thought about trying them out one time for camping. My wife likes Maumee near Toledo because it is flat all the way around, but they don't have camping either.

I was at maumee a few weeks ago and it needs major work. There are whoops every 5 foot. I think that place is a joke. They need to maintain the trails alot better. Wayne should be nice when it opens since the trails have been getting worked on for a few months.

I hear the woops are to keep people from going to fast, but they are dangerous because if you go fast you can ride on top of them but if you make a mistake, your hurtin'. Maumee is good for taking people to learn to ride, no hills, nothing difficult.

Hey xsmoker, I was thinking about going to Bear Creek, any good? How's the camp ground facility at the KOA? It's bout two hours north of me, but being that there is no where to ride here, it would be worth it if it's any good at all! Any input would help.......

Check out fyrewood's link to bearcreak KOA, that place looks really nice and it's about a mile away from the ridding park. I've never stayed there, I drive 1.5hr down from Cleveland ride the day then drive back home. $12 rider, $8 for passengers (you're allowed to ride doubles), mixture of trails that you can cover most of in 4 hours. They are building a newer better mx track that goes up part of a hillside but they have it roped off. If Bear creek is 2hrs north for you, Waynes national forest should be closer, right?

It's a toss up..but WNF is about one hour further away since I have to go through Columbus. Traffic can slow ya down in a hurry! Also, I want a place to take the family, so I figured the campground would give them something to do while I ride. I checked out the link, but I just wanted some personal feedback, you know? I pretty new to atving and I'm easily ammused when it comes to trails!
Is it true that they are not open during the week? Thanks for the input!
